Thrifty Shopping Experience..."
Our thrift store, known as Granny’s Storehouse, is a primary source of revenue for Lancaster Outreach Center, generating over $100,000 annually from the sale of donated new and used clothing, furniture, and miscellaneous durable goods. As the old saying goes, "One person’s trash is someone else’s treasure."
The store is named in honor and memory of Meda "Granny" Wheat, who was a beloved & longtime volunteer, a part-time employee and Volunteer Coordinator for many years, and one who gave her heart and soul to LOC.
The accompanying charts and statistics reveal a growth rate which should be
the envy of corporate America. Other than modest utility usage and insurance
premiums, all income goes directly to assistance. All store employees are
caring, unpaid volunteers, ably led by Store manager, Mary Shahan, who has
managed the store for many years.
Granny’s Storehouse has been blessed because it has been a blessing.
