URGENT Food Pantry Needs: (2/1/12)
Our Food Pantry serves over 700 families each month. We are in URGENT need of the following items:
Soup, Stew,
Hamburger Helper
Peanut Butter, Cereal
Food of The Month
When parents cannot feed their children, and when elderly do not have adequate nutrition, our entire community suffers from the effects of hunger.
Please help us keep our food pantry stocked and enable us to continue serving the 650 families who come to LOC each month for food. One way to help us is by conducting a regular food drive for specific items needed at that time. For information on Food Drives, contact KayKay at 972-227-0138.
Food Pantry Sponsorship
Every dollar designed for the Food Pantry goes to the operation of the pantry. This includes food, utility and maintenance expenses, and a salary for one person. (The vast amount of the work done in the pantry is performed by volunteers.) Every dollar donated the LOC Food Pantry is enough to purchase 7 pounds of food from the North Texas Food Bank.
Each year, LOC fills over 7,000 food orders and spends over $20,000 to purchase food from various sources to provide over $270,000 worth of nutritious food to our clients.
Food Pantry Sponsors can either donate $50/month or more to the food pantry and/or hold a food drive for the benefit of the food pantry at least once a year that provides at least 2,500 pounds of food. Special recognition will be given in agency publications throughout the year.
